GUC Library and Research Facilities:

 

The GUC library is located at the C1 Building at the GUC Campus and provides 32 PC's, seating for 220 persons every day from 8 am to 5 pm, Saturday through Thursday.

The GUC library is one of the support functions for research activities of the GUC whether in Egypt or in Germany. It hosts scientific and academic online databases that gives access to millions of primary sources for research purposes, in addition to online services that cover different disciplines and books in different fields. Collections are available in German, English and Arabic as well as in French.

GUC’s online catalogue –KOHA portal– allows GUC’s researchers to search, place holding and check out printed and digital physical books, journals etc. The Catalog is accessible to all users on GUC campus through [http://guclib.guc.edu.eg/].

The GUC library is a member of the South-West Library Association in the State of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, the Egyptian Libraries Association, and the International Committee of Libraries in Egypt. Accordingly GUC’s library is connected to the library's network in the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Egyptian Universities Online Network with accessibility to its major online databases, also accessible through the KOHA portal.

Legal Resources:

In the field of legal research, the GUC library provides a considerable collection of research material both in digital and print. To that end, it offers over 640 different hardcopies of legal books in the area of Public, Criminal, Civil, Commercial, Islamic and International Law, as well as foreign legal systems. To search for available textbooks, handbooks, encyclopedias, commentaries and journals, visit the KOHA portal at [http://guclib.guc.edu.eg/].

In addition to hardcopies, online sources include research material available to students both on and off campus. On campus, students have access to multiple databases through any available Library-PC by accessing the KOHA portal [http://library.guc.edu.eg/] or laptop connected to the GUC WiFi by accessing http://student.guc.edu.eg] or [http://staff.guc.edu.eg]. These databases include:

  • Ebrary (an online digital library books and database collections)
  • Jstor archieves (academic journal articles, books and primary resources)
  • Springer (a publishing house with numerus titles and periodicals)
  • Tashreaat (Domestic legislations, precedent and literature)
  • West Laws (UK and international material)

Other University libraries, such as Ulm University’s KIZ library can be accessed through [http://library.guc.edu.eg/], then chose relevant library, log-in with your full GUC address (username[at]guc.edu.eg) and enter your GUC account password.
